It’s impossible not to notice that video content is everywhere and is now often the first thing you see when entering any social media sites. Video content has skyrocketed in popularity over the last few years and accounts have seen an immense amount of growth when implementing them into their social media strategy. Some businesses are still hesitant to follow the trend which is why I want to discuss why using video can provide huge opportunities.




1. For popular platforms such as Instagram, Twitter and Linkedin, accounts are seeing more than double the amount of engagement compared to other posts. In a bid to compete with Tiktok, Instagram is still heavily promoting Instagram reels which is why it is the perfect time to utilise this opportunity to increase engagement and grow your audience on social media.


 

2. Videos are a brilliant tool to help you connect with your audience in a more genuine and relatable way. Showing a face behind your brand humanises your business and builds trust.


 

3. Your content can be a powerful tool to implement several of your objectives at once on social media. For example, it can be used to save you time and money by answering questions and educating your audience on your product or services, limiting the need for a customer service team. At the same time, this can also achieve other objectives such as increase brand awareness and sales/lead generation. All with one, simple video.


 

4. Communication is simplified through video and there is less risk of incorrect interpretation. Ever found yourself in a sticky situation because you or someone else failed to understand the tone conveyed in a text message? The same can happen with text and static posts. In a video we can convey a tone of voice, visually demonstrate our point of topic and create a better rapport with our target audience.


 

5. While video is loved across the board, it especially appeals to a Gen Z audience with most choosing to watch videos over consuming any other type of content. If your business wishes to target this generation, video marketing is the best way to appeal to a Gen Z audience.
