You Don't Need Followers on TikTok Be Successful

TikTok’s unique algorithm has really changed the game for social media creators and levelled the playing field for new users to cut through the noise. So if you think follower count is the only thing worth chasing, I have news for you; follower count has absolutely no impact on the success of your content!


Most important metrics for businesses on TikTok:


  • Engagement (especially shares)

  • Watch through rate

  • Consistent view counts



TikTok’s algorithm allows your content to reach a wide new audience no matter how low your follower count is but your content has to be good. Quality of content is what will drive success and help you gain influence - and influence is power.


A high follow count means nothing if you’re not posting content that brings your audience any value and you will lose any influence you have on them. You need to understand how to grab your target audience’s attention to achieve a high percentage of watch through rates and once you have mastered that, people will naturally start to engage and share your content that will keep them coming back for more.


Don’t get me wrong, having a large following audience is very valuable provided it’s made up of the right people. We’re talking quality over quantity. At the end of the day a high follower count does not equal success, quality leads or profit. That is why we call it a vanity metric. However building a platform full of engaged loyal fans will help give you leverage in the success and influence your business has.
